Two Arrested in Sunfield Street Shooting
Through coordinated efforts with law enforcement partners in Wisconsin and Georgia, two
Madison men have been arrested and charged in connection with the October 7th Sunfield
Street shooting.
On Friday, October 17, 2025, Tradell Morrison, 17, of Madison, and Jeremiah Smith, 20, of
Madison, were arrested by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office in McDonough, Georgia, on
Wisconsin Department of Corrections warrants. Both were extradited to Wisconsin on October 28, 2025, and booked into the Dane County Jail.
On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the Sun Prairie Police Department referred additional charges to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office related to this incident. Both individuals are being referred for the following charges:
• Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide (2 counts)
• Recklessly Endangering Safety (2 counts)
• Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Investigators determined that the suspects targeted the victims in this case and that this was
not a random act. An automatic license plate reader played a significant role in identifying the suspects.
“The impact of a single shooting on a community can be profound and drastic. I commend all
officers and detectives who dedicated their time, effort, and expertise to this investigation.
Their diligent work, collaboration, and commitment led to the timely identification and
apprehension of the suspects. This outcome would not have been possible or would have been delayed without the use of License Plate Readers and our colleagues at the Henry County
Sheriff's Office in Georgia,” said Chief Kevin Warych.
The Sun Prairie Police Department appreciates the assistance of the Henry County Sheriff’s
Office in Georgia and the Madison Police Department during this investigation.
