Sun Prairie Wellness Coalition Unveils New PSAs to Support Suicide Prevention and Awareness

Sun Prairie, WI – 9/17/2024 – In a heartfelt effort to bolster community support and awareness around mental health, the Sun Prairie Wellness Coalition recently announced the launch of a series of public service announcements focused on suicide prevention and awareness. These poignant messages are designed to remind individuals that they are not alone and that help is always available.

The PSAs, which are set to air across various media platforms, deliver a powerful and reassuring message to those struggling with thoughts of suicide. Each PSA underscores the importance of reaching out for support and directs viewers to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, a vital resource offering immediate, confidential assistance 24/7.

"Every person experiencing a mental health crisis deserves to know that they are supported and that there are resources available to help them navigate through their struggles," said Katie Peterson, Co-Director of the Sun Prairie Wellness Coalition. "Our new PSAs are a testament to our commitment to fostering a supportive community where everyone feels empowered to seek the help they need."

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline provides free and confidential support, connecting individuals to trained counselors who offer emotional support and crisis intervention. Billboards advertising the 988 number, thanks to Adams Outdoor Advertising, can be viewed by eastbound motorists on Highway 151 on the left side of the highway near the Main Street exit and westbound on Highway 19 on the right side of the highway near the Highway 51 exit during the month of September.

The Sun Prairie Wellness Coalition's campaign aims to raise awareness about this critical service, ensuring that no one feels isolated during challenging times.

The coalition encourages community organizations and individuals to share these PSAs widely to maximize their reach and impact. By doing so, we can collectively contribute to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and support our neighbors in seeking help.
