City of Sun Prairie to Plan Series of Activities for Earth Month

The City of Sun Prairie is proud to announce the variety of ways community members can celebrate Earth Month with activities beginning as early as March and ending in April. While Earth Day is observed annually on April 22, Sun Prairie extends the celebration to inspire action all month long. This year’s theme, "Individual Actions Make a Community of Change," focuses on how everyday choices contribute to a more sustainable future. Key events range from community mural painting to a neighborhood knowledge series centered on energy efficiency.

Wetmore Park Mural Painting

Community members can help create a large-scale mural that reflects the values of sustainability and inclusion. Guided by artists from Developing Artists, Murals & Alliances (DAMA), participants will paint individual panels that will later be installed at Wetmore Park in summer 2025. No prior artistic experience is required.

2nd Annual Sustainable Film Series

This event will include a lineup of creative and informative environmental films shown for free, with popcorn provided. Each screening will be followed by a discussion led by subject matter experts, offering insights into key sustainability topics and facilitating discussion with attendees.

Neighborhood Knowledge Series

This three-part interactive series will provide community members with essential information on residential solar, electric vehicles, and home energy efficiency. Attendees will hear from industry experts, participate in hands-on demonstrations, and engage in interactive games and discussions.

In addition to these highlighted events, Earth Month will include various community-centered activities, volunteer opportunities, and sustainability pledges aimed at helping participants connect to this year’s theme.

“Community education is at the heart of Earth Month in Sun Prairie,” said Rose Daily, Sustainability & Resilience Manager. “This month provides many opportunities to build relationships and understanding of how small, everyday actions can have a major impact.”

All events are free and open to the public. For full event details and participation information, visit www.cityofsunprairie.com/EarthMonth.
