City of Sun Prairie Kicks Off Holiday Season with Festive Events and Small Business Saturday

The City of Sun Prairie will be kicking off the holiday season with a series of events on Saturday, November 30, starting with Small Business Saturday and ending with the 109th Annual Fire & Lights Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting.

Small Business Saturday

Holiday shoppers can begin the hunt for the perfect gift in Downtown Sun Prairie from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.! Participating shops will feature exclusive specials, and shoppers can use a passport at participating businesses for a chance to win one of five local raffle baskets. The first 100 visitors to Faded Roots Boutique, located at 146 Cliff St., will receive a free "Shop Local" canvas tote.

Santa Saturday

Families are invited to visit the Sun Prairie Historical Library & Museum between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. for photos with Santa. Each Saturday leading up to the holidays, Santa will be at a different Downtown location, spreading cheer. Local businesses will also host fun holiday activities, making it a festive way to celebrate and make Christmas wishes known.

109th Annual Fire & Lights Holiday Parade

Saturday's festivities will conclude with a long-standing Sun Prairie tradition: a parade of decorated fire trucks through Downtown, followed by Mayor Esser lighting the tree in front of the Historical Library and Museum.

The parade and festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. with live music by the Sun Prairie Area Community Band and commentary from the Sun Prairie Media Center. Starting at 5:50 p.m., attendees can enjoy holiday entertainment and treats, including a performance by Fusion Dance Academy. Local fire and public safety departments will decorate their vehicles for the season and parade down Main Street from Kroncke Drive at 5:55 p.m., parking at Main Street's intersection with Church and Market Streets.

The parade schedule includes:

· 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.: Fire Truck Parade.

· 6:30 p.m.: Holiday Tree Lighting at the Historical Library & Museum, led by Santa Claus.

· 6:40 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.: Photos with Santa on the Museum steps and an opportunity to explore the festively decorated fire trucks.

These holiday events and activities are offered to the community in collaboration with the Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department, Public Safety Department, the Historical Library & Museum, and Visit Sun Prairie.

“I am thrilled to work with other departments to bring the community together for such a festive day in Downtown Sun Prairie,” said Mary D'Amico, Sun Prairie Business Improvement District (BID) Manager. “From shopping local during Small Business Saturday to the excitement of the Fire & Lights Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting, there really is something for everyone to enjoy.”
