City, chamber officials help Discovery Storage cut ribbon to open Sun Prairie facility

Discovery Storage welcomed visitors, City of Sun Prairie officials and Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce representatives during an April 30 ribbon cutting event at its new 70,000 sq. ft. facility located at 2375 Autumn Blaze Way in Sun Prairie.

Sun Prairie Discovery Storage Store Manager Keli Weatherly emphasized the facility — which has three floors of storage units available — offers space for life for people who work at home, individuals downsizing from a house to an apartment or condo, or even seniors transitioning from a house to a smaller retirement home.

“We’re owned by a hospitality company, so we want customer service to be excellent,” Weatherly added. “What I'm here for is to provide a great experience.”

The Sun Prairie Discovery Storage facility features 650 storage units in a variety of unit sizes ranging from 5 feet by 3 feet to 10 feet by 30 feet. Models of the most popular sized units are available in the office lobby at the Sun Prairie location.

The Sun Prairie facility offers secure-entry facilitated via a cellular phone application, an enclosed moving bay, contactless move-in, moving supplies available for purchase, parcel locker rental, dolly and flatbed carts to facilitate moving, shipping and postal services on-site and more.

Sun Prairie Mayor Paul Esser said the community has been watching and waiting for the Sun Prairie Discovery Storage location to be completed and open to the public.

“This is a real asset to this community,” Esser said. “This is not like . . . your grandfather’s storage facility — it is not like that at all. The idea of this where you drive in and this is where you unload inside — that's a perfect idea. So you are a perfect and welcomed addition to this community.”

“We’ve been watching this facility rise from the ground up for a very long time and we have just really awaited the opportunity to come in and invite you all in to share the innovation that this particular facility provides to our communities,” said Christina Williams, Executive Director of the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce.

“I know Keli and I first touched base two years ago — it’s been two years — and they’ve weathered all of the storms and are super-excited to share everything with everybody,” Williams said. “On behalf of our board of directors and our ambassadors — many of whom are in attendance today — we look forward to supporting you and watching you continue to be a successful piece of our community.”

Discovery Storage has three other storage facilities located in Bentonville, Ark.; Gahanna, Ohio and Fitchburg, Wisconsin.
