SUN PRAIRIE CLERK’S OFFICE READIES FOR GENERAL ELECTION
Residents encouraged to join in extended voting hours and family-friendly activities
Residents encouraged to join in extended voting hours and family-friendly activities
SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. – With a high voter turnout anticipated for the November 3 General Election, the City of Sun Prairie Clerk’s Office is ready to welcome voters! Along with extended voting hours, the Clerk’s Office is offering opportunities for residents of all ages to learn about elections and local government.
Following a successful debut this spring, the City is hosting its second Children’s Election from October 20-31 at City Hall. Children can cast their own fun, simplified ballot featuring graphics to make voting accessible to a variety of ages and abilities.
Also available is a new local government activity booklet designed to spark curiosity and family conversations about civic engagement. Activities include a word search, a comic illustrating how an idea moves through City Council, a Jimmy the Groundhog coloring page, an opportunity to write a letter to Mayor Stocker, and more!
“Municipal clerks are always looking for creative ways to educate the public about elections and local government,” says Megan Meyer, Deputy City Clerk. “We’re grateful for our community’s enthusiastic support and participation. The Clerk’s Office looks forward to serving Sun Prairie voters and welcoming families to City Hall this election season!”
Additionally, in-person absentee voting began October 20 at City Hall, with 555 voters casting ballots on the first day. To make voting more accessible, the Clerk’s Office is offering extended weekday and Saturday morning hours through October 31:
Dates Voting Hours
October 20–23 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Saturday, October 24 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
October 26–29 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Friday, October 30 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday, October 31 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Important Reminders for Voters
Wisconsin allows voter registration at polling places on Election Day, but residents are encouraged to register in advance, if able. Residents can register in person at City Hall through 5:00 PM on Friday, October 30.
Voters who received an absentee ballot by mail may return their completed ballot to one of the City's two absentee ballot drop boxes which are available 24/7. Both drop boxes will close at 7:00 AM on Election Day, November 3, to allow time for ballot delivery to polling places. The drop boxes are located at:
- City Hall: 300 E. Main Street
- Westside Community Services Building: 2598 W. Main Street
Voters may also return their voted absentee ballots directly to their Election Day polling place when polls are open; they must be delivered by 8 PM in order to be counted.
The City updated its polling place assignments earlier this year, with changes taking effect during the August Partisan Primary. Voters are encouraged to confirm their assigned polling place before Election Day by visiting https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Find-My-Polling-Place or calling the Clerk’s Office at (608) 837-2511.
