Sun Prairie, WIS. – Steve Stocker, Mayor of the City of Sun Prairie, issued the following statement today
regarding the outcome of the City’s Operating Referendum:

Yesterday, residents of Sun Prairie voted against a proposed property tax levy increase that would have allowed the City to improve public safety services while maintaining the existing quality services and programs the community enjoys.

The City of Sun Prairie will revisit its operating budget and determine next steps to address the projected budget gaps. As annual budget discussions continue through fall 2026, the City Council will need to make difficult decisions about cutting services, programs and staffing, with specific cuts determined during the annual budget process.

We appreciate our residents for making their voices heard regarding this important decision that will shape the future of our City.
