SHOTS FIRED INVESTIGATION AFTER BULLET STRIKES OCCUPIED APARTMENT

Sun Prairie, WI - The Sun Prairie Police Department is investigating an overnight shots fired incident in the 1400 block of O'Keeffe Avenue in which a round struck an apartment building and entered an occupied bedroom.

The investigation suggests that the round was fired from street level near the intersection of O'Keeffe Avenue and New Towne Drive. No injuries were reported.

This investigation remains active, and the Sun Prairie Police Department is following up on multiple leads. At this time, the residents involved do not appear to have been targeted.

"We are incredibly grateful that no one was hurt, but a bullet entering an occupied bedroom is a sobering reminder of how quickly reckless behavior can put innocent people at risk. The bullet came within three feet of the headboard, and we are extremely thankful this incident did not have tragic results. Sun Prairie is a safe and strong community, and we will do everything we can to identify the person responsible and hold them accountable," said Chief Kevin Warych.
