Retail Theft Investigation Leads to Three Juvenile Arrests
Sun Prairie, WI. On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Sun Prairie Police Department received a report of a retail theft in progress from staff at Bass Pro Shops, located at 1350 Cabela Drive in Sun Prairie.
Store staff reported that several individuals took ammunition and pistol magazines from the store and left without making payment.
Sun Prairie Police Officers arrived on scene and observed the involved subjects leaving the area. The subjects fled from officers on foot. Two of the subjects were apprehended by responding officers. A third subject was initially able to evade officers.
Officers established a perimeter in the area where the third subject was last seen. The Sun Prairie Police Department was assisted by the Waunakee Drone Team during the search.
During the investigation, officers determined the third subject had boarded a Madison Metro bus. With assistance from the City of Madison Police Department, the third subject was located and taken into custody on the bus in the City of Madison.
All three subjects were taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported. All subjects are juveniles and residents of the City of Madison. All are 14 years of age. The juveniles were transported to the Dane County Juvenile Reception Center.
The Sun Prairie Police Department is referring the following charges to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office:
- Juvenile 1: Party to a Crime — Retail Theft, Resisting/Obstructing an Officer
- Juvenile 2: Party to a Crime — Retail Theft, Resisting/Obstructing an Officer, Possession of THC
- Juvenile 3: Retail Theft, Resisting/Obstructing an Officer, Possession of a Facsimile Firearm, Possession of THC
