City of Sun Prairie and Sun Prairie Schools Announce Career Launch for District 8th Grade Students

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. – The City of Sun Prairie’s Economic Development Department, in partnership with the Sun Prairie Area School District, is launching a new Career Exploration Event for all eighth-grade students. The Career Launch event is designed to expose students to a variety of career paths, including those that follow apprenticeship, specialized training, or on-the-job learning.

Our goal is to showcase a broad range of careers—especially in the skilled trades, technical fields, and public sector roles—to help students understand the many pathways available after graduation. The Career Launch event will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 9:30AM-2:30PM at Angell Park Pavilion.

Given space constraints, 21 businesses can participate, with each participating business or organization being able to feature up to three different positions at the event. Each position will be represented by a current employee working in that role. Representatives are encouraged to wear their typical work attire and be prepared to answer short questions about their job, training, and day-to-day responsibilities.

The following businesses and organization are currently signed up: Sun Prairie Emergency Services
Departments, including Police, Fire, and EMS; Sun Prairie Utilities, MSA Professional Services, Cru Concrete, Inc., Mid-West Family Madison, Royle Printing, and Canadian Pacific Railway.

Interested businesses and organizations should fill out the following form: Career Launch Interest
