ABOUT THE MUSICAL
A toe-tapping crowd pleaser, The Music Man Jr. features iconic songs plus a story full of warmth, wit and good old-fashioned romance.
When the fast-talking, traveling salesman Harold Hill arrives in River City, Iowa, he doesn't plan on sticking around. To sell his band instruments and uniforms, he quickly cons the town into believing he can teach boys to play musical instruments overnight. The only problem? Harold doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef.
Will he skip town with the money? Or, will his growing love for the town librarian derail his plans for escape? Maybe, just maybe, with enough belief, he'll find success despite himself.
The Penguin Project of SPCT is a program committed to showcasing the talents of young people with special needs. All roles are filled by children and teens with special needs. And, they are joined on stage by peer mentors who volunteer to work side-by-side the artists and provide assistance only if needed.
The Penguin Project strives to demonstrate that individuals with special needs are fully capable of participating in community activities with the same dedication and enthusiasm as others, if given opportunity and support.
