On July 4, 2025, the Reconciliation Bill commonly known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (the OBBBA) and officially known as H.R. 1 became Public Law No: 119-21. The document consisting of more than 116 sections extends many expiring provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (the TCJA) applicable to businesses and individuals, amends other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and introduces numerous tax code changes that include new tax deductions, updates to current credits and deductions, and revised reporting rules – some retroactive to January 2025.
