SCORE - Sales Tax in the Online World
Though specifically directed at Wisconsin sales, the rules and procedures for charging, collecting, and remitting sales tax will be explained in relation to your business activities. With online sales that very easily might reach customers in other states, the rules become more complicated and though the focus will be on the specific rules for Wisconsin, the speaker will show how these out-of-state sales follow similar rules. With third-party sellers like Amazon, Shopify, and Etsy, it is important to understand their procedures for collecting and remitting sales tax to the states where your customers exist. Whether using third-party delivery systems or handling your own sales directly, this workshop will help demystify the rules.
Workshop presenter Van Warren is a business tax specialist at the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue. Van has been with the Department of Revenue for eight years and works with businesses to ensure they are set up with the right tax accounts and understand Wisconsin tax laws.
