Homeless Awareness Month
November is Homeless Awareness Month. Homelessness is on the rise and our beautiful community is not immune to it.
Did you know that there are over 150 students in the Sun Prairie school district experiencing homelessness this year?
Homeless living situations include:
• Living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to the lack of alternative adequate accommodations;
• Sharing the housing of others due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason;
• Staying in emergency or transitional shelters;
• Sleeping in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations, or similar settings.
Throughout the month of November, please help support individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Sun Prairie by donating hygiene products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine products, body wash, shampoo, etc.) and winter items (jackets, boots, gloves, hats). Monetary donations are also needed to purchase items.
