Suspect Arrested After Pointing Firearm at Officer
SUN PRAIRIE, WI — On Friday, February 13, 2026, at approximately 9:00 PM, officers from the
Sun Prairie Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at the Element
Apartments, located near the intersection of Park Circle and West Main Street.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim and were directed to a suspect who was walking
through the parking lot. A Sun Prairie Police Officer attempted to make contact with the
suspect and detain him. The suspect physically resisted by grabbing the officer.
During the struggle to take the suspect into custody, the suspect armed himself with a firearm
he had on his person and pointed the weapon at the officer's abdomen. The Sun Prairie Police
Officer was able to disarm the suspect without a round being discharged. With the assistance of
a second Sun Prairie Police Officer and the deployment of a conducted energy weapon (Taser),
the suspect was taken into custody.
Neither the Sun Prairie Police Officer nor the suspect sustained injuries during this incident. The
subject was evaluated by Sun Prairie Fire and Rescue Paramedics and transported to the Dane
County Jail. Based on this incident, the Sun Prairie Police Department has referred the following
charges to the Dane County District Attorney:
• Attempted First-Degree Intentional Homicide
• First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
