Prairie Lakes Location Welcomes Guests On June 19

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis., (June 14, 2024) - Madison’s original, locally-owned grain bowl and salad shop is bringing their satisfying, fresh, locally-sourced flavors to Madison’s East side, with a new location at 2824 Prairie Lakes Drive. Conveniently located in the Prairie Lakes shopping center, the 1,800-square-foot former salon was transformed into a welcoming dining room and scratch kitchen with patio dining by locally owned JA Connery. The interior of the new location also includes a vibrant, custom mural created by local artist Stefan Matioc.

Founder and owner of Forage Kitchen, Henry Aschauer said, “We have already received an enthusiastic welcome from the community and can’t wait to begin serving folks all these foods that are good for you and make you feel fantastic, too.” The menu will include make-your-own bowls as well as Forage favorites like the Power Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and Cultured Cobb. Scratch-made ingredients and house-made dressings are customizable to nearly any dietary preference, including vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan.

Local sourcing at Wisconsin Forage Kitchen locations is anchored by Verona’s Flynn Creek Farms, providing bases such as kale, arugula, romaine and spinach for salads and grain bowls. “Flynn Creek Farms practices regenerative agriculture in an effort to repair the soil and produce the most nutrient dense food possible,” said Aschauer. Flynn Creek Farms is also growing seasonal vegetables for Forage and this summer will include several tomato varieties, fennel, radish, cucumber, basil and poblano peppers.

As part of the grand opening activities, the Sun Prairie restaurant will host a fundraiser on July 9th benefitting Explore Children's Museum. 25% of all sales that day will be donated to this community-based and visitor-supported non-profit that provides meaningful opportunities, inspires participation in purposeful play, and promotes lifelong learning.

All of the delicious, fresh dishes from Forage Kitchen are available for dine-in as well as online ordering for pickup and delivery at or from the Forage Kitchen app. The restaurant will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. Guests may reach Forage Kitchen in Sun Prairie by phone at (608) 318-0380.
