Christine LesCamela Appointed to Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Laboratory Accreditation Certification Standards Review Council

The City of Sun Prairie is proud to announce that Christine LesCamela, Laboratory Manager at the Wastewater Treatment Facility, has been appointed as a member of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Laboratory Accreditation Certification Standards Review Council. This prestigious appointment, bestowed by the Wisconsin Department of Administration, is a testament to LesCamela’s expertise and dedication in the field of laboratory management.

LesCamela's appointment marks a significant achievement, as she joins a group of only eight individuals across the state of Wisconsin to serve on this Council. Each member represents a distinct sector of certified and registered laboratories, including industrial, agricultural, commercial, and the State Lab of Hygiene. She will serve as the voice of Wisconsin's 26 Large Municipal Wastewater Facilities.

The primary role of the Council is to provide expert guidance to the Department of Natural Resources' Laboratory Certification Division. Presently, the DNR regulates 331 laboratories that receive guidance from the Council .Their responsibilities encompass assessing the scientific validity of analytical procedures, advising the frequency and scope of laboratory evaluations to determine compliance, assisting in defining regulatory terminology, reviewing audit findings, and proposing necessary changes to the certification process. The Council also plays a pivotal role in reviewing the division’s laboratory certification budget allocations and fee schedules, advocating for adjustments as required. Furthermore, they are tasked with advising the department on standards used to certify, register, suspend and revoke laboratories.

“With over 22 years of service to the Wastewater Treatment Center, Christine has exemplified the Wastewater Treatment Facility’s dedication to safeguarding the environment, public health, safety, and the well-being of Sun Prairie community members,” said Jeremy Cramer, Wastewater Conveyance and Treatment Director.
